Some guys go for a walk, go fishing or retreat to the garage, a place of refuge for them.

Not so for Lawrence John Ripple.

The 70-year-old Kansas man, after getting into an argument with his wife, decided he needed a sure-fire way to get away from his spouse of 33 years. Ripple was certain that robbing a bank would accomplish his goal.

Writing the robbery note in front of his wife that he would later hand to a teller at a Bank of Labor bank in Kansas City, Kansas, Ripple waited in the institution's  lobby for police to arrive. When they did, he simply stated "I'm your man." He was arrested and jailed to await trial.

The grand plan backfired, however, when Ripple was sentenced to probation and home confinement yesterday, putting him right back where his troubles started.
